Abstract

hild Mental Health Disorders refer to mental health disorders that are diagnosed and/or begin during childhood. These disorders are an important public health issue. Child Mental Health Disorders include diagnoses of Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), anxiety disorders, depressive and other mood disorders, autism spectrum disorders, and behavior disorders including Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) or Conduct Disorder (CD). Early diagnosis is important, as untreated mental health disorders can impact functioning in multiple life domains and can impact development. Child Mental Health Disorders can be treated and managed, and there are many evidence-based approaches that can be highly effective.
