Abstract

Plaque accumulation and enamel decalcification around fixed orthodontic appliances are common challenges. This randomized clinical trial compared oral bacterial levels in plaque around orthodontic brackets among three patient groups: one using a mouthrinse containing fluoride, xylitol, and a pH-neutralizing agent; one using a standard over-the-counter fluoride rinse; and a control group without rinse. Findings aim to evaluate whether enhanced mouthrinse formulations reduce bacterial presence compared to standard rinses or no rinse, informing strategies to minimize plaque-related complications during orthodontic treatment.
