Abstract

OHSU's Historical Collections & Archives are under-utilized by the institution's student population. The clinical nature of the curriculum focuses on current research and not on historical findings. Additionally, the archives frequently suffer from being hidden from potential users (a familiar archival problem). This project sought to identify potential collaborators for situations where historical materials could be used to highlight current course objectives rather than trying to develop new curriculum, serving both to advance teaching from the archives and to create outreach opportunities to raise the profile of OHSU's historical holdings. The information from this project could be used by other departments or institutions to highlight teaching or outreach opportunities within an already established curriculum.
