Abstract

Oral hygiene is one of the most frequently cited missed nursing cares and is implicated in the development of non-ventilator hospital acquired pneumonia (NV-HAP), which is associated with high morbidity and mortality and represents a significant work burden for healthcare providers including nurse practitioners. This quality improvement project aimed to increase the percentage of patients receiving oral care at least once in a 24-hour shift to 75% over a three-month period.
