Dr. Rosemarie Hemmings is an Assistant Professor in community dentistry and director of social work within the OHSU School of Dentistry. She has developed and is teaching an innovative inter-professional curriculum related to social determinants of health within the school. She begins this interview by recounting her childhood in New York, with summers often spent in Jamaica. She goes on to discuss studying social work in college, and how she came to Oregon and, eventually, OHSU and her current role. She also covers issues of self-care, mentoring, employee health, and her shift to a larger focus on public health in both her daily activities and her research. This oral history interview was conducted online on November 1, 2022. It features Rosemarie Hemmings, Ph.D., L.C.S.W. being interviewed by Susie Goolsby, D.D.S., M.S.H.A.
