Full practice authority (FPA) for Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) has been a point of debate for years. CRNAs practice in multiple practice models ranging from independent to medically directed. The Veterans Health Administration (VA) has no system-wide standard practice model for CRNAs, meaning each facility decides the practice model of its choice. This quality initiative aims to evaluate the state of VA CRNA practice through survey methodology and offer improvement actionable steps based on the findings.
