Abstract

Cerebral vascular disease ranks 3rd as a leading cause of death in the United States today, being surpassed by heart disease and cancer. Many of these individuals sustained neurological damage and live, but are not so fortunate as to receive effective treatment at the onset of their symptoms and hence do not escape the devastating effects of a stroke. This study was undertaken to design an organized stroke care program for implementation in a specific, small acute care hospital, which would promote maximum restoration of function for the stroke patients admitted for diagnosis and treatment in the hospital.
