The analytical measurement of serum triglycerides poses more difficult technical problems than that of serum cholesterol. Before describing the historical development of serum triglycerides analysis, it is appropriate to discuss 3 techniques which measure the entire lipoprotein: ultracentrifugation, lipoprotein electrophoresis, and nephelometry.
