Abstract
The structural gene for diphtheria toxin resides within the genome of toxigenic corynebacteriophage. According to current theory, however, toxin plays no obvious role in phase development or replication. The general question that motivated the research for this thesis was would an analysis of the structural components of a toxigenic corynebacteriophage reveal the presence of any polypeptides identical or related to diphtheria toxin?
