The present work investigates structural and low temperature magnetic properties of pseudo binaries on aluminum base of two heavy rare earth metals where AI is substituted by Co and Fe. The interest in this particular study arose mainly from the following academic and applied considerations. While the structural and magnetic behavior of the pure rare earth metals entails a considerably complex behavior which is only partly understood so far, the rare earths in a matrix of more or less electron rich partners, although somewhat less bizarre in behavior, can be studied with greater freedom as to parameters of size and electron concentration per atom.
