Abstract
Neurons, information-processing units of the human brain, are polarized cells that have a soma, tentacle-like dendrites and a typically tubular axon. For information transfer, the axon of a neuron create contacts with the soma or dendrites of another neuron. In the mammalian nervous system, most neurons communicate through chemical synapses. I am interested in understanding the molecular mechanism of chemical synaptic transmission in excitatory neurons or, more specifically, in glutamatergic neurons.
