Abstract

Information overload in the biomedical domain is a well-researched problem of the last several decades but its pace of expansion has increased exponentially. Continued development of tools and applications will be required to combat the growing collection of data. To obtain maximum accuracy, text mining tools supported with robust biomedical standardized terminologies are necessary implementations congruent with these application development initiatives. This dissertation focuses on developing a terminology system specifically designed to aid in the extraction of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) concepts from unstructured resources.
