Abstract

Diabetes mellitus presents a major disease burden globally. This project set out to discuss the experiences of living with diabetes with a group of low- income patients with poorly controlled diabetes at a particular clinic to determine barriers to care that they face. Responses were analyzed to determine if diabetes self-management education (DSME) would be an approach sufficient to address the needs of these patients.
