Abstract

Health Information Technology (HIT) has transformed healthcare into a data rich industry. However, the growing amount of data and information generated brought unintended consequences to this inherently complex ecosystem. Healthcare organizations are now facing challenges to ensure data trustworthiness and its efficient management. Realizing the need to control and protect their information asset, information governance (IG) has been gaining traction in healthcare in the past decade. This paper demonstrates the feasibility of applying CFIR to identify the barriers, enablers as well as strategies used during the changes in an IG implementation process. Qualitative and quantitative research will be required to test the validity and the evaluation of this framework in health IG implementation.
