Abstract

The use of the Internet, especially social media, has surged in recent years, presenting both opportunities and challenges. While it allows for connection and learning, it also exposes adolescents to risks, such as online predation, cyberbullying, and the sharing of personal information. These risks include harming their chances for college admissions and endangering their safety while engaging in online activities. Additionally, social media can contribute to negative body image perceptions, adding pressure from already existing media portrayals. Educating young people about these risks is essential.
