Gary Jones, M.D., describes his early years and his family background. He was born into a family of doctors - his father (Richard T.), his grandfather (Lester T.), his uncle (Warren L.), his great uncle (Arthur C.) were doctors, and his mother (Marilyn) was a medical technologist at University of Oregon Medical School. He talks about his fascination with both basic sciences (especially biochemistry) and clinical medicine (especially medical genetics and pediatric oncology) and how his twin interests influenced the development of his career. He talks about the explosive growth of the campus during the 1980s and 1990s and about the new buildings on campus.
