Abstract

The purpose of this proposal is to present an updated point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) curriculum for internal medicine residents that integrates longitudinal didactics and supervised ultrasound scanning. The goal of this curriculum proposal is to allow for a core group of interested internal medicine residents to complete advanced POCUS training in addition to the already existing curriculum. The proposed curriculum will focus on a core group of POCUS topics that are pertinent to the field of internal medicine and integrate additional didactics and supervised ultrasound scanning time throughout the year. Anticipated results include improved knowledge retention, increased reported use of POCUS, and increased comfort with using POCUS among residents who complete the longitudinal curriculum.
