Hung Liu, born in 1948, was a modern American artist of Chinese descent. She was primarily a painter, but she also created site-specific installations and mixed-media pieces. Her paintings were frequently inspired by anonymous Chinese historical and modern photos, especially those featuring women, children, refugees, and warriors.
