Abstract

Low‑carbohydrate diets promote weight loss but may elevate inflammation due to increased dietary fat, though their effects on circulating fatty acids and inflammatory markers remain unclear. This secondary analysis of the Energy Balance Study compared changes in plasma fatty acids and inflammatory markers after six weeks of low‑ versus high‑carbohydrate diets in obese adults. Additionally, associations between changes in fatty acids and inflammatory markers were examined within each diet group.
