Description

This publication, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the new Multnomah County Hospital, highlights sections of previous reports of the preparations for and opening of the hospital on Marquam Hill in 1923, which replaced the dangerous and antiquated first county hospital. This work serves as a quick reference for many major accomplishments in the hospital’s first 50 years, documenting reflections of switchboard operators in the 1940s tracking down doctors; photos of staff, including Emma Jones (whom Emma Jones Hall is named in honor of), and patients from over the years; and marking the addition of new facilities being added, including Oregon’s then-only psychiatric crisis center.
