Lynn Loriaux, M.D., Ph.D. joined the faculty OHSU in 1990, serving as head of endocrinology. In 1994, he become chair of the Department of Medicine and remained in the role until 2013, becoming the longest running chair of medicine in the country. Loriaux later became Chief of the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism in 2019. In this interview, Dr. Loriaux discusses his early aspirations and how an interest in forestry and veterinary science led to a career in medicine; his contributions to teaching and research, particularly those at the National Institutes of Health; and his experiences and perspectives on medical education, including technological changes and the challenges they bring.
