Abstract

Botulism is a specific food-born intoxicant caused by the toxin of the Bacillus botulinus. It has a high mortality and distressing symptoms and its relation to food makes it dramatic news, and these facts have recently caused concern and alarm out of proportion to the prevalence of the disease.
