Lowell Euhus, M.D., was a family medicine physician who served in Enterprise, Oregon, a community in Wallowa County, for over three decades. A 1968 alumnus of the University of Oregon Medical School (now Oregon Health & Science University), Euhus witnessed and influenced significant shifts in medical practice and healthcare delivery throughout his career. He was instrumental in tackling rural healthcare challenges in Oregon by supporting Area Health Education Centers, which significantly advanced rural healthcare in Oregon. His exceptional contributions earned him the Oregon Family Physician of the Year in 1994. In this interview, Euhus reflects on changes in technology, the role of women in medicine, malpractice issues, and the challenges of staffing rural hospitals. He also shared personal stories about his patients.
