Abstract

Children whose progress in the classroom is erratic and bewildering are a source of worry to the home, school, and inexperienced teacher. The time was in education when classes were small and the teacher knew the parents and life history of each of her pupils. But this intimate contact was lost with the abolishment of the little red school house. With changing methods in education, someone was needed in the school to combine the social aspects of education to more closely assimilate the home and the school. This is the visiting teacher.
