When thinking of sodium channels in the nervous system the most notable are voltage gated sodium channels, but a multitude of non-voltage gated channels also contribute to sodium homeostasis in the brain. One of these lesser studied sodium channels in the nervous system is the Epithelial Sodium Channel (ENaC).
