Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a disproportionate impact on underserved communities. Inequities within the health care system that existed long before COVID-19 have amplified these disparities. CDC data shows racial and ethnic minority groups are at greater risk of contracting COVID-19, experiencing more severe illness, and dying from its effects.

The OHSU Vaccine Equity Committee (VEC) was formed with the purpose of increasing vaccination rates and vaccine education among diverse racial and ethnic communities within the state of Oregon. This internal document serves to capture best practices and lessons learned through 1.5 years of practicing a culturally-centered strategy for COVID-19 vaccine distribution to racial, ethnic, and underserved communities.

This document is part of the OHSU COVID-19 collection, collection number 2020-010, finding aid is at https://archiveswest.orbiscascade.org/ark:80444/xv294278.
