In January 2023, Oregon Health Authority (OHA) expanded coverage for the Oregon Health Plan (OHP) to include severe handicapping malocclusion for beneficiaries under 21 years old. With OHP’s handicapping malocclusion coverage expansion, low Medicaid participation was anticipated to bottleneck access to care. This mixed methods study explored Oregon orthodontists’ familiarity with OHP and assessed their attitude towards the OHP program and strategies to increase access to care for OHP beneficiaries.
