Abstract

A community hospital identified barriers to breastfeeding support, including inconsistent lactation education and provider knowledge. A ten-week quality improvement project using the Plan-Do-Study-Act framework integrated evidence-based lactation education into routine prenatal care, with 79% of patients receiving education. The initiative improved provider adherence and documentation, with future recommendations to expand education efforts and address workflow issues for better breastfeeding outcomes.
