Abstract
P2X receptors are ATP-gated ion channels that play critical roles in physiological and pathophysiological conditions throughout the body. This dissertation elucidates mechanisms of high-affinity agonism and allosteric antagonism for the P2X7 receptor, providing a framework to develop small-molecules with significant therapeutical potential to treat inflammatory diseases.
