Effects of OVIVA-based guidelines on oral antibiotics prescriptions and resulting treatment complications

After implementation of OVIVA-based guidelines, we compared oral antibiotic prescription rates for bone and joint infections between three distinct time periods to evaluate for any increases after distribution of our guidelines and to monitor for any changes in proportions of potential complications. In the time period following our guideline implementation, we observed a significantly increased proportion of oral antibiotics use compared to the two periods before implementation without any significant differences in the occurrences of complications.
