Abstract
This quality improvement project surveyed prescribers at an urban psychiatric hospital to assess attitudes, barriers, and perceptions related to prescribing medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD), specifically buprenorphine and methadone. OUD remains a major public health crisis, and although these medications reduce overdose mortality, access is limited, often due to modifiable prescriber‑related barriers such as inadequate training, stigma, and low confidence. Despite strong evidence supporting MOUD initiation in inpatient and emergency settings, many prescribers report insufficient knowledge and institutional support. Findings from this project will guide targeted interventions to improve alignment with evidence‑based practice and expand MOUD access.
