Abstract
Perinatal mental health disorders are a leading cause of pregnancy‑related mortality in Oregon, yet no standardized statewide screening policy exists. This project developed an evidence‑based proposal for universal perinatal mental health screening along with a provider toolkit to support implementation. Guided by national guidelines and a data‑driven policy framework, the proposal outlines standardized screening time points, validated tools, documentation practices, and referral pathways. The accompanying toolkit includes clinical, training, and community resources. Evaluation feedback showed strong support for policy adoption and increased provider confidence. Implementing this policy has the potential to improve early detection, promote equity, and enhance maternal and infant health outcomes statewide.
