Abstract

This dissertation is focused on the role of post-endocytic sorting in opioid receptor regulation. Specifically, it describes the development of a chemical biology sensor for tracking lysosomal downregulation of GPCRs, and the application of this sensor to determine the mechanism of mu opioid receptor post-endocytic recycling. The effects of this recycling mechanism on opioid receptor signaling are also explored.
