Abstract

Effective provider–patient communication is critical in acute psychiatric inpatient care, as breakdowns can reduce care quality and increase the use of coercive measures like seclusion and restraint. To address this, a Collaborative Behavior Plan (CBP) was introduced, with nurses helping newly admitted patients identify triggers, warning signs, coping strategies, and preferred staff support during crises.
