Many different strategies have been used to overcome barriers to pain management. One such strategy is improving nurses’ knowledge through the Pain Resource Nurse (PRN) Program which develops staff nurses as pain management experts on their units. The purpose of this program evaluation is to determine the effectiveness of the PRN Program for reducing barriers to optimal pain management and improving family pain satisfaction scores on DCH’s Pediatric Acute Care Center (PACC).
