Abstract
Inherited disorders of long‑chain fatty acid oxidation (FAO) impair the ability to use long‑chain fatty acids for energy, making exercise risky due to potential rhabdomyolysis and cardiac dysfunction. Medium‑chain triglyceride (MCT) supplementation may bypass this metabolic block and reduce adverse events. This study examines how isocaloric MCT versus carbohydrate supplementation before exercise influences substrate oxidation and cardiac function in individuals with long‑chain FAO disorders.
