Black and white photographic portrait of James C. Hawthorne, M.D., (1819-1881). Dr. Hawthorne was a physician and politician in Oregon, and co-founded the Oregon Hospital for the Insane. Hawthorne Boulevard in Portland, Oregon is named for him.
