Abstract
Dental schools are enhancing their information systems, integrating them into patient care and student education. Clinical Information Systems (CIS) encompass the software and hardware (like computers and digital X-ray processors) used in these settings. Initially focused on financial aspects such as billing and insurance claims in the 1990s, the role of CIS has expanded to include digital image capture, electronic oral health records, inventory management, oral disease risk assessment tools, and student grading. Understanding the impact of CIS integration on patient care is crucial in dental education.
