Abstract
The rate of hip fractures has been steadily increasing over the past 3 decades, 5 fold in women and 1.5 times in men. For patients with hip fractures, there are several treatment options available, varying from surgery to conservative management. Each option has benefits and risks, depending on patient factors. Advice to patients about treatment options is often given by junior doctors who learn by observation and mentoring by their senior colleagues. A decision aid was created for providers to use in consultation with patients who have hip fractures.
