Abstract
In Oregon there are 3.4 houseless individuals per 1,000 people; while in Multnomah county the rate is much higher with 5.2 per houseless individuals per 1,000 (Oregon Health Authority, 2017). State issued identification is essential to accessing the social services that help individuals overcome houselessness. The aim of this project is to synthesize and analyze data related to the barriers in getting and keeping state issued ID while houseless, to increase awareness of the barriers among key stakeholders with the aim of identifying areas for improvement and to identify realistic next steps and solutions to reduce barriers and improve access to ID’s.
