Abstract

Up to one in four employees intends to leave an organization within their first year, leading to high levels of staff disengagement in their roles. Employees will seek out jobs that provide an environment supporting more interdependence, knowledge and empowerment to be innovative. As organizations shift away from a pure reductionist, hierarchal system to a balanced structure containing both reductionism and holism, they evolve into a interdependent weave of complex systems and non-predictable linear and non-linear patterns. While organizational leadership still needs to set the foundations for a clear vision and infrastructure, it is the people and the relationships between them that move the organization to a higher level.
