Abstract

Obesity is an ever-‐growing concern in the United States and throughout much of the world. While our understanding of what impacts obesity and related health concerns, there is a growing body of evidence that suggests that programming that occurs in utero may play a significant role in the development of obesity and other, related disease such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Maternal diet during pregnancy remains and area that has yet to be fully described in terms of the relationship to important predictors of long-‐term health, including maternal weight gain during pregnancy and infant adiposity at the time of delivery. Our study enrolled 41 women receiving prenatal care for singleton, uncomplicated pregnancies at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, Oregon.
