Abstract

Acoustic Source Localization involves that can detect the location of a particular audio signal within a two-dimensional or three-dimensional field. These methods require multiple microphones for simultaneously capturing the audio signal. The primary strategies used today are Filter & Sum Beamformatting. High Resolution Spectral Analysis, and Time Difference of Arrival Estimation. This thesis explores a novel approach to enhancing the spatial selectivity of a two-microphone array by combining Time Difference of Arrival methods with acoustical reverberation principles.
