The purpose of this DNP project was to compare current practice to evidence-based guidelines and literature about the assessment, treatment, and management of pain in hospitalized geriatric patients with cognitive impairment. The project aimed to identify if cognitively impaired, traumatically injured adults receive similar pain management regimens to cognitively intact geriatric patients admitted to the trauma service at Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU).
