The Program for Molecular and Cellular Biosciences at Oregon Health and Science University has been redesigned to accelerate students' progression through their PhDs. As an umbrella program, students' academic backgrounds vary widely. As a result, few incoming students possess the breadth of knowledge required to succeed in the accelerated curriculum. Our main aim was to improve the 1st year students' ability to absorb and retain course material, as well as create a support network.
