Abstract

Medical scribes are frequently being used in clinical practice to address visit-related documentation burdens that have been associated with the increased adoption of electronic health records (EHRs). However, previous studies that examine scribe influence on documentation behavior are often lacking quantitative descriptions of these metrics, and the impact of scribes on provider chart hygiene remains unclear. This study was a retrospective, quasi-experimental evaluation of chart hygiene markers in attending physicians at an academic medical center.
