Abstract

Falls are a leading cause of nonfatal injuries among children, accounting for 2.6 million emergency department visits in 2005 and over $6 billion in medical costs. While research has traditionally focused on individual risk factors, recent studies suggest environmental characteristics may also contribute to injury risk. This study aims to identify environmental factors associated with pediatric fall injuries within a fire district in Oregon, providing insight for targeted prevention strategies.
