Abstract

Dry blood spot (DBS) samples can be used to detect severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) spike protein antibodies and may offer an alternative for serologic testing of vaccinated populations. The utilization of DBS samples for measuring antibody levels in subjects vaccinated against SARS-CoV-2 has never been investigated in the literature. The aims of this project are to accurately estimate SARS-CoV-2 spike protein antibody levels in a vaccinated cohort at OHSU by utilizing DBS samples and to determine the performance characteristics of DBS samples versus serologic samples via indirect enzyme-linked immunoassays (ELISA).
