Abstract

Weight stigma is defined as assigning negative attributes to individuals based on their weight status and includes both overt and subtle acts of discrimination. Although weight stigma affects people across the weight spectrum, this dissertation focused on the cumulative life experiences of higher weight individuals who received bariatric surgery.
