Abstract

Financialization in the food system, or the process that increases financial influence in the global economy and food system, is a social problem with broad inequitable social consequences, shaped by a handful of powerful actors. This Capstone provides an assessment of historical and contemporary policy decisions and political discourse that contribute to financialization of the food system. Using the paradigm of critical inquiry, I evaluate this problem by using literature analysis and critical discourse analysis methodologies.
